Copper and Gold — Oyu Tolgoi
Oyu Tolgoi (OT) in Ömnögovi Province is the dominant large-scale mining project in Mongolia. The open-pit operation is already producing; the underground block cave expansion is one of the world's major current mining construction projects. Rio Tinto manages the operation under agreement with Turquoise Hill Resources and the Mongolian government.
OT is a professionally run international operation with established procurement processes. Vendors typically need to meet Rio Tinto's supplier qualification standards. We can provide the technical documentation required for supplier evaluation.
Coal — Tavan Tolgoi and South Gobi
The South Gobi coalfield includes Tavan Tolgoi (operated by Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi, a Mongolian state entity) and several private concessions. Coking coal produced here is exported primarily to China. The proximity to the Chinese border means some operations truck coal directly to Gashuun Sukhait (Mongolia-China border crossing) without complex conveyor infrastructure, but washing plants and sorting facilities do use conveyor systems.
Fluorspar and Other Minerals
Mongolia is one of the world's major fluorspar producers. Mongolrostsvetmet and other operators mine fluorspar in central Mongolia. EP belts and PU screen panels are used in processing.
Cold Temperature is the Main Technical Requirement
Mongolia's climate is one of the most extreme on earth for industrial equipment. Ulaanbaatar is the world's coldest capital city. South Gobi winters regularly reach -35°C to -40°C. Summer temperatures in the Gobi can reach +40°C.
This means conveyor belts operating in Mongolia need to function across a temperature range of approximately 80°C from winter low to summer high. Standard rubber compounds cannot handle this range.
Our cold-flex cover compounds are rated to -45°C and maintain flexibility without cracking in Mongolian winter conditions. This is not optional for Mongolia — it is the baseline specification. We mention this upfront because supplying standard-grade belts to Mongolia is a setup for early failure.

Logistics
Mongolia is landlocked and bordered by China and Russia. For Chinese-manufactured goods, the most practical supply route is overland by road or rail through Zamyn-Üüd (Mongolian border) / Erenhot (Chinese border) into Mongolia, then to Ulaanbaatar or south to the Gobi mine sites.
Transit time from Hebei to Ulaanbaatar: approximately 5–10 days by road/rail — significantly faster than any sea-based routing. This is one of the genuine advantages of sourcing from China for Mongolian operations.
For South Gobi mine sites near the Chinese border (Oyu Tolgoi is approximately 80km from the border), road delivery from Chinese production facilities is feasible for planned orders.
