Drive pulley lagging provides the friction interface between the drive pulley and belt underside. Without lagging, a bare steel pulley cannot transmit sufficient drive force — the belt slips, generating dangerous heat and potential fire. Elephant Rubber supplies both rubber lagging (for standard applications) and ceramic tile lagging (for wet, high-tension, or slip-critical applications).

500-800mm diameter pulley: 10-12mm rubber. 800-1,200mm: 12-15mm rubber. >1,200mm: 15-20mm rubber. Ceramic lagging: 15-20mm total (rubber base + ceramic tile) for all diameters. Thicker lagging increases effective pulley diameter — allow for this in belt tension calculations when re-lagging existing pulleys.
