UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) impact bars support the conveyor belt across the loading zone, preventing belt deflection under the impact of falling ore. Unlike steel support bars (which damage the belt underside) or rubber strips (which have high friction), UHMWPE combines extremely low friction with good impact resistance —?supporting the belt without causing underside wear.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Material | UHMWPE, molecular weight >6×10—?g/mol |
| Hardness | 60—?5 Shore D |
| Friction coefficient vs rubber belt | 0.05—?.10 (dry); 0.04—?.08 (wet) |
| Tensile strength | —?5 MPa |
| Impact strength (Izod) | >100 kJ/m² —?extremely tough |
| Abrasion resistance | Excellent —?3—?× better than HDPE |
| Standard bar widths | 150, 180, 200, 250mm |
| Standard bar heights | 40, 50, 60mm |
| Lengths | Cut to conveyor width (custom) |
| Colour | White/natural (standard) |
| Temperature range | -40°C to +80°C |
For extreme impact applications (primary crusher discharge, large lump ROM ore), rubber impact cradles provide greater energy absorption than UHMWPE bars:
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Structure | NR/SBR rubber slabs on steel carrier frame |
| Rubber hardness | 45—?5 Shore A (energy-absorbing) |
| Rubber thickness | 50—?00mm under belt contact surface |
| UHMWPE wear surface | UHMWPE cap on rubber —?combines energy absorption with low friction |
| Max lump size handled | 600mm (with appropriate installation height) |
| Material | Belt Underside Friction | Impact Absorption | Service Life |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steel bar | High —?causes underside damage | None —?transmits impact | Long (bar life), but damages belt |
| Standard rubber | Medium-high | Good | 1—? years |
| UHMWPE | Very low —?minimal belt wear | Moderate | 2—? years |
| UHMWPE + rubber cradle | Very low | Excellent | 2—? years (rubber) |
UHMWPE bars are installed in a steel frame (cradle) spanning the conveyor width in the loading zone. Bars are retained by stainless steel studs or T-bolt system for easy replacement. Bar spacing in the loading zone: 100—?50mm. Extend the impact bar zone 1.5—?m beyond the loading point where ore is still unsettled on the belt. We supply complete cradle + bar systems —?send belt width and loading zone length for sizing.
